Gascon & Associés pays tribute to founding partner Louis B. Gascon

The Gascon & Associés family would like to pay tribute to Louis B. Gascon, founding partner of the firm that bears his name, who passed away on March 29, 2022. “I am personally deeply saddened to learn of his passing. Louis was an inspiration to me and to many others. He built a firm of which its members can be proud. Our values are one of his most important contributions,” said Gascon partner Jean Proulx. Nicolas Beaulieu, a partner at Gascon, had the good fortune to work for several years with the man who cultivated the practice of law on a human scale. “When I arrived at the office with 5 years of practice under my tie, I met Louis who quickly adopted me and he literally took me under his wing.” “Louis always saw the good in everyone,” adds Mr. Beaulieu. “Louis was like that: a man of affable generosity, boundless loyalty and exemplary friendship. A role model. We have an incredible founder; he built a firm with great values on which we can continue to build, and I now wish him rest in peace.” Mr. Gascon had extensive experience in commercial litigation, business and corporate planning, as well as financing and corporate reorganization. In addition to founding Gascon & Associés in 1979, he had extensive expertise in shareholder relations and had developed a multidisciplinary business practice. In 1989, in collaboration with colleagues from other jurisdictions, he co-founded Legal Network International, an association of some 63 law firms with over 5,000 professionals in some 60 countries, of which he was also Chairman of the Board. Mr. Gascon was a certified mediator in civil and commercial matters. He is survived by his wife Mary-Jo, his children, and many friends and colleagues.
