The mandates entrusted to the Insurance Litigation Department are diverse and accomplished efficiently by our skilled professionals.

This year, the Insurance Litigation Department has, notably:

  1. Class Action Defence – Acting for a leading Canadian insurer in two high-stakes class actions involving alleged breaches of the Consumer Protection Act.
  2. Product Liability Litigation – Representing a global heavy equipment manufacturer in complex product liability claims concerning alleged design and manufacturing defects.
  3. D&O Coverage Arbitration – Counsel to an offshore insurer in an arbitration concerning directors and officers liability coverage.
  4. Cross-Border Defence Advisory – Advising a multinational insurer on duty to defend and allocation of defence costs in Quebec, in connection with litigation initiated outside the province.
  5. Declaratory Relief Proceedings – Representing a foreign insurer in a declaratory action focused on the scope and allocation of defence costs.
  6. Construction Litigation Defence – Defending the interests of an international insurer and its insured contractor in a major construction dispute involving multimillion-dollar claims.
